Diode Laser Hair Reduction

(10-12 treatments, once btw 4-6 wks)

Smooth Skin. Less Shaving. Long-Lasting Results.

Laser Hair Reduction is one of our most popular treatments for clients wanting a convenient, long-term solution to unwanted hair.

Our advanced laser technology combines effective hair reduction with an integrated cooling system, helping to keep the skin cool and the treatment comfortable throughout your session. Most clients experience only a mild warming or snapping sensation, with minimal to no downtime.

After completing the recommended treatment course, clients may achieve up to approximately 80% long-term/permanent hair reduction, although individual results vary depending on hair colour, skin type, treatment area, hormones and consistency of treatments.

For any remaining or future regrowth, maintenance treatments approximately every 2–3 months may be recommended if required.

Less shaving. Fewer ingrown hairs. Smoother, easier-to-maintain skin.

What is Laser Hair Reduction?

Laser Hair Reduction works by directing concentrated light energy towards the pigment — or melanin — within the hair.

The light is absorbed by the hair and converted into heat, which targets the hair follicle and helps reduce its ability to produce future hair growth.

Because hair grows through different stages, only hairs in the active growth phase can be effectively targeted during each treatment. This is why a course of treatments at regular intervals is necessary for the best results.

Over time, clients generally notice:

Up to 80% Long-Term Hair Reduction

Following a complete treatment course, clients may experience up to approximately 80% permanent or long-term hair reduction.

Laser Hair Reduction does not necessarily mean that every single hair will disappear permanently. Some fine or occasional regrowth may remain, and hormonal changes can stimulate new hair growth over time.

Once your initial course is complete, a maintenance treatment every 2–3 months may be recommended if required to help maintain your results.

Results vary between individuals.

Advanced Cooling Technology for Greater Comfort

Our laser system features advanced cooling technology designed to protect and cool the skin during treatment.

This makes Laser Hair Reduction one of our most comfortable advanced treatments. Most clients describe the sensation as mild warmth, tingling or a light snapping feeling rather than significant pain.

For most clients:

✓ No numbing cream is required
✓ Minimal to no downtime
✓ Treatment is quick and comfortable
✓ You can usually return to normal activities afterwards

Benefits of Laser Hair Reduction

Laser Hair Reduction offers many advantages compared with ongoing shaving, waxing or other temporary hair-removal methods.

For many clients, Laser Hair Reduction becomes one of the best long-term investments in maintaining smooth skin.

Areas We Can Treat

Laser Hair Reduction can be performed on most areas of the face and body, including:

Laser treatment cannot be performed directly around the eyes or over the eyebrows.

Your therapist can discuss any intimate or specific treatment areas privately during your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

We generally recommend a course of approximately 10–12 treatments for optimal reduction.

The number of treatments required varies according to:

Consistency is very important. Missing or greatly extending treatment intervals may affect your overall results.

Treatment Intervals

Treatment intervals depend on the area being treated and how quickly the hair grows.

As a general guide:

Facial areas: approximately 2–4 weeks apart, depending on regrowth and therapist assessment.

Body areas: approximately 4–6 weeks apart, with intervals sometimes increased as hair growth becomes slower.

Your therapist will recommend the appropriate schedule for your individual treatment area and response.

Will All the Hair Disappear After One Session?

No.

Hair grows through several different stages, and laser is most effective when the hair is in its active growth phase.

This means only a percentage of hair follicles can be effectively targeted during each appointment.

Hair reduction therefore occurs gradually over a series of treatments.

What Hair Colours Can Be Treated?

Laser Hair Reduction works by targeting melanin — the pigment within the hair.

For this reason, it generally works best on:

✓ Black hair
✓ Dark brown hair
✓ Brown pigmented hair

Unfortunately, laser treatment is generally ineffective on:

✕ White hair
✕ Grey hair
✕ Very light blonde hair
✕ Some red hair

These hair colours contain little or no melanin for the laser to target.

Your therapist will assess your hair during consultation to determine whether treatment is likely to be effective.

Is Laser Hair Reduction Suitable for Different Skin Tones?

Our laser treatments can be customised according to the client's skin type, hair colour and treatment area.

Your Fitzpatrick skin type will be assessed before treatment, and appropriate treatment settings will be selected for you.

A consultation and, where appropriate, a patch test may be required before beginning your treatment course.

Does Laser Hair Reduction Hurt?

Most clients find the treatment very manageable and comfortable.

You may feel:

Our advanced cooling system helps cool and protect the skin during treatment, making the experience significantly more comfortable.

Most clients do not require numbing cream.

Do You Use Numbing Cream?

Numbing cream is generally not required or recommended for Laser Hair Reduction.

The laser targets the hair follicle beneath the surface rather than simply treating the surface of the skin. Topical numbing products may therefore provide limited benefit and can interfere with the condition of the treatment area.

Please attend your appointment with the treatment area clean and free from heavy creams, oils, deodorant or occlusive products, unless your therapist advises otherwise.

Downtime

Laser Hair Reduction generally involves minimal to no downtime.

Most clients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately following treatment.

The skin may temporarily feel warm or appear slightly red around the hair follicles. This usually settles relatively quickly.

Following the recommended aftercare is important for reducing irritation and protecting your skin.

Possible Side Effects

Laser Hair Reduction is generally well tolerated when performed appropriately; however, as with any laser or cosmetic treatment, side effects can occur.

Temporary side effects may include:

Less common side effects can include:

Paradoxical Hypertrichosis

A rare side effect called paradoxical hypertrichosis may occur in some clients.

This means that instead of the hair reducing, hair may become thicker, darker or more noticeable in or around the treated area.

It has been reported more commonly in certain facial and neck areas and may be influenced by factors including:

Your therapist will assess your skin, hair and treatment area and select appropriate settings to help minimise treatment risks.

Hormonal Hair Growth

Laser can effectively reduce suitable pigmented hair; however, conditions associated with hormonal changes can influence future hair growth.

Hormonal hair growth may require:

Laser can reduce the hair that is currently present but cannot prevent hormonal changes from stimulating new hair follicles in the future.

Please advise your therapist if you have known hormonal concerns that may affect hair growth.

What is the Minimum Age for Laser Hair Reduction?

For the most predictable results, we generally recommend Laser Hair Reduction for clients aged 18 years and over, as hair-growth patterns can continue changing throughout puberty.

In selected circumstances, treatments may be considered for younger clients from approximately 12 years of age.

For clients under 18:

Can Laser Hair Reduction Be Performed Over Tattoos?

No.

Laser Hair Reduction cannot be performed directly over tattooed skin because the laser may interact with the tattoo pigment and increase the risk of skin injury or alteration to the tattoo.

We can usually treat the surrounding skin while maintaining an appropriate safety distance from the tattoo.

Your therapist will mark and protect tattooed areas before treatment.

Maintenance Treatments

Once your initial 8–12 session course has been completed and your desired reduction has been achieved, you may only require occasional maintenance.

If required, a maintenance session approximately once every 2–3 months may help control remaining or newly developing hair.

Some clients may require maintenance less frequently depending on their individual results.
